Job summary

Bachem Torrance's Research & Development organization seeks a Manager, R&D to lead a team of Scientists, Chemists and technical staff focused on peptide process development, technology development, manufacturing support, and innovation initiatives.

You will establish priorities, allocate resources, and drive strategic programs aligned with business objectives while ensuring GMP compliance, safety, and cross-functional collaboration across global sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field required.
• Master's or PhD preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in process/technical development or manufacturing support required.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and technical initiatives required.
• Experience in peptide chemistry, pharmaceutical development, or CDMO operations preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development skills.
• Knowledge of GMP regulations, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Scientists, Chemists and technical staff; set priorities and development plans.
• Direct process development, technology development, scale-up, and lifecycle management activities.
• Drive technology transfer, automation, and new methodologies.
• Ensure safety, quality, and timely execution of projects within budgets and timelines.
