Job summary

Green Bay Packaging is seeking a Research & Development Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and specialists in delivering innovative label solutions.

You will drive product design, troubleshoot methodologies, and guide high-impact development projects while aligning R&D priorities with Sales, Marketing, and manufacturing partners. This role emphasizes customer collaboration and staying ahead of PSA industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science field.
• 5 years R&D experience in pressure-sensitive label materials or related manufacturing, plus 5 years of team leadership.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, development, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; working knowledge of statistical methods; Six Sigma and Lean training is a plus.
• Proven project management and critical thinking skills.
• Travel, 20% or less, domestic and/or international.

Responsibilities

• Leading the Research & Development team, setting goals and providing performance feedback.
• Providing product design and troubleshooting methodology, technical support, coaching, and training to team members and associates.
• Leading select high-impact development projects and managing a pipeline of new products.
• Achieving cross-department alignment of priorities and managing R&D resource capacity.
• Partnering with Sales & Marketing to identify gaps and growth opportunities and influence product strategies.
• Working directly with customers to understand wants, needs, and value of new technologies.
• Collaborating with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Process Engineering on product and process developments and improvements to grow profitability.
• Staying informed on new technologies and PSA industry trends through suppliers, customers, and industry events.
