Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking engineering graduate students for the Research & Development Leadership Development Program (R&D LDP) - Summer 2027 Internship. The 12-week program provides a broad introduction to R&D platforms and targets high-potential performers for the full-time track.

You will receive classroom training, engage with the R&D community, and explore AI-enabled opportunities across Irvine, CA and other U.S. locations.

Qualifications

• Current graduate students enrolled in an engineering graduate program and on track to earn a master’s degrees by June 2028.
• Preferred majors: bioengineering, computer, electrical, mechanical, material science, robotics, systems, software and optical engineering
• Strongly preferred skill or experience with machine learning, deep machine learning, IoT, embedded software, prototyping, robot design, systems reliability, firmware, and hardware integration
• Understanding of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and ways of working to meet evolving business needs.
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams to identify AI opportunities, evaluate feasibility, and accelerate AI-enabled ways of working adoption.

Responsibilities

• Be part of exciting projects while honing your professional skills in a structured internship program.
• The R&D Leadership Development Program (R&D LDP) develops technical skills, business acumen and cross-functional proficiencies for future leaders.
• Internship program (12 weeks over Summer) introduces you to various R&D platforms and focuses on selecting high performers for the full-time program upon graduation.
• You’ll gain in-depth classroom training and connect with peers and the broader R&D community.
• Locations include Irvine, Redwood City, Santa Clara, CA; Cincinnati, OH; Jacksonville, FL; Raritan, NJ.
