Job summary

ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City is seeking a laboratory support technician to provide services in lab service areas under the supervision of an R&D Manager/Supervisor. You will assist with data handling, specimen preparation, reagent handling, and quality control tasks.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/wk, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with some flexibility. A high school diploma is required; some biology courses are preferred. Competency is expected within six months of employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Some college courses in biology or related life sciences are preferred.
• Demonstrates competency of assigned tasks within six months.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Understands appropriate specimen collection, handling, and transport.
• Accurately retrieves and de-identifies specimens according to procedures.
• Notifies supervisor of specimens that meet rejection criteria and resolves issues.
• Prepares, organizes, and reviews specimens for run set-up according to procedures.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Under supervision, begins training on complex processes and procedures.
• Complies with safety and biohazard regulations; maintains data security and confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
