Job summary

DuPont in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a skilled R&D Technician to support new adhesive product development. You will join a collaborative team of chemists, technicians, and customers to develop innovative adhesive solutions for automotive applications.

You will lead lab work, prepare formulations, conduct tests, document results, maintain calibration and equipment, and ensure quality and safety compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Science-related field.
• Working laboratory experience in an industrial or R&D environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory practices and safety protocols, including ASTM and SAE specifications.
• Excellent technical aptitude with multitasking, problem-solving and time management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with test and measurement equipment.
• Experience with mixers, laboratory instruments, and CNC machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Co-develop new adhesive products and applications in structural and battery adhesives.
• Lead lab work: formulation plans, batch prep, sample prep, testing, and documenting results.
• Collaborate with the group leader to scale up products within procedures and manufacturing constraints.
• Ensure product quality and performance align with customer requirements; maintain lab equipment and calibration.
• Support quality audits and troubleshoot technical issues with sales, R&D, and manufacturing teams.
• Travel to customer sites as needed; prepare adhesive batches requiring lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Write daily project notes and technical reports compliant with quality systems; maintain a clean lab.
• Champion AI/digital tools to streamline requests, data collection, and analysis.
