Job summary

TechDigital Group in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a hands-on lab technician to support industrial adhesive development. You will prepare batches, run tests on pastes and cured adhesives, collect data, and document results in a compliant manner.

Qualifications

• Previous working laboratory experience in an industrial or R&D environment is required
• High school diploma/GED is required, an associate or bachelor's degree in the STEM field is preferred
• Knowledge or working experience with polymers is preferred, but not required
• Proficient with computers and with Microsoft products - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams
• Comfortable entering data and performing analysis in Excel or other software, with ability to identify abnormal data
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
• Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
• Self-motivated, fast-paced, eager to learn, and able to prioritize, organize, and plan
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills, enjoys diverse teamwork

Responsibilities

• Co-develop new products according to customer needs and business strategy
• Make adhesive batches and conduct lab tests on paste and cured adhesives
• Organize and prepare substrates, data collection and documentation
• Collaborate in teams for successful scale-up of products
• Learn best lab practices and work independently, safely and efficiently
• Ensure product quality meeting customer specifications and safety standards
• Maintain lab equipment and act as ERP (equipment responsible person)
• Conduct experiments with high quality, analyze data and interpret results
• Prepare intermediates and adhesive batches
• Perform daily lifting and moving of materials up to 50 lbs
• Weigh raw materials and charge them into mixers
• Scrape mixer bowls, remove adhesives and clean mixers
• Transfer and package samples, condition environments
• Characterize/test adhesives and perform liquid property testing (viscosity, rheology, sag)
• Apply adhesives to substrates using manual or automatic caulking guns
• Execute various mechanical property tests
