Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an R&D Laboratory Support Technologist to join the polymer materials characterization and mechanical testing team. The successful candidate will characterize organic materials (encapsulants, adhesives, gels, coatings, composites) using DSC, TMA, TGA, DMA, and rheological tests, collaborating with staff and other technologists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• Ability to work onsite at the Sandia facility.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform materials characterization using DSC, TMA, TGA, and DMA.
• Conduct mechanical testing with universal testing machines.
• Design and execute structural tests to compare materials.
• Perform basic organic chemistry and polymer synthesis.
• Maintain instrumentation, calibrate, and repair as needed.
• Ensure ES&H, safety, lab stewardship, and proper documentation.
