Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated metallurgy and materials science laboratory support technologist to conduct advanced materials characterization, metallurgical analysis, and failure analysis. Work spans R&D and applied science within the Metallurgy and Materials Joining organization, focusing on high-reliability materials and novel manufacturing methods.

You will operate mechanical test frames, ovens, furnaces, and specialized analyzers; analyze metal samples; and

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory environment and using lab equipment/setups.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain experimental apparatuses and material analysis equipment.
• Analyze metal samples and material joints for characteristics such as fracture, wear, strength, and microstructure.
• Collaborate with technologists and staff to support material investigations and ensure safety documentation.
