Job summary

H.B. Fuller Company in South Bend, IN offers a 12-week paid R&D internship starting late May. The intern will support research and development activities, evaluate materials, formulate samples, and analyze performance using standard lab methods.

You will gain hands-on experience with polymer technologies, collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams, and present results at an end-of-summer showcase with mentor support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet in lab/manufacturing areas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and characterize raw materials to support product development and testing.
• Prepare laboratory formulations and samples for analysis.
• Conduct testing using standard lab methods and instrumentation.
• Document and analyze results; organize experimental data.
• Support scientists and technical staff on development projects.
• Assist with production trials of new materials and parameter optimization.
• Prepare technical summaries and communicate findings to project teams.
