Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to lead finance for our R&D organization—the largest spend area. You’ll partner with the CTO and R&D leaders to plan, forecast, and invest in headcount, cloud usage, AI, and tooling, linking investment to product outcomes and company targets.

You will drive annual planning, rolling forecasts, and FP&A process modernisation with AI-driven workflows, while building a high-impact team and guiding headcount strategies across time zones.

Qualifications

• Advanced financial modeling skills with industry best practices.
• Experience with NetSuite, Sisense, Adaptive Planning, or SQL.
• MBA, CFA, or CPA qualification is desirable.
• Strong ability to influence senior technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading a finance partner role for R&D/Engineering/Product.

Responsibilities

• Lead FP&A for GitLab's R&D organization, including planning, forecasting, and investment decisions.
• Partner with CTO and R&D leadership to align headcount, infrastructure, AI/LLM usage, and costs to product outcomes.
• Lead annual planning and rolling forecasts across headcount, compensation, contractors, hosting/cloud, software, and tooling.
• Define and track R&D efficiency metrics and identify savings opportunities to reallocate resources.
• Oversee AI transformation of R&D finance workflows, with AI-enabled processes and reporting.
