Job summary

NOW Foods is seeking an R&D Specialist I for the 2nd shift in Sparks, NV. The role focuses on formulating and reformulating products, ensuring compliance with NOW specifications, and supporting manufacturing with technical troubleshooting to improve efficiencies.

You will input BOMs and specifications into Oracle, work with Pilot Plant equipment, and help prepare product approval packages for final review. Bachelor’s in Food Science or 2+ years related experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Food Science; or minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Formulates and/or re-formulates existing products with the simplest and most cost-effective formulations that can be manufactured efficiently based on profitability objectives, deadlines and budgets.
• Supports manufacturing by providing technical troubleshooting to increase efficiencies and resolves quality problems.
• Coordinates, develops and evaluates existing formulas to ensure they are compliant with NOW specifications.
• Inputs bill of materials, specifications, and manufacturing instructions into Oracle.
• Works with Pilot Plant equipment for product trials and troubleshooting.
• Prepares and reviews product approval packages for final review by management.
