Job summary

Ultradent is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician III to join our Research & Development team. You will help develop, test, and evaluate new products, technologies, and manufacturing processes in a laboratory and prototype environment.

This role involves building and modifying prototypes, performing tests, operating manual machining equipment, creating CAD models, recording results, and collaborating with engineers to turn ideas into working hardware. On-site in Salt Lake City, UT.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical ability.
• Experience with machine building, mechanical assembly, prototyping, or related technical work.
• Experience with manual machining, including lathes and mills.
• Familiarity with testing methods and accurate data collection.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
• Ability to manage assignments and solve problems with limited supervision.
• Willingness to ask questions, seek information, and learn new tools and technologies.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Build, modify, troubleshoot, and evaluate prototypes, test fixtures, equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
• Support product and process development through laboratory testing and experimentation.
• Perform tests according to established procedures and accurately collect, record, and communicate results.
• Operate manual machining equipment, including lathes and mills.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measurement instruments, and laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
• Create or modify basic CAD models and drawings.
• Document project progress, technical observations, problems, and outcomes.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and complete work accurately and on schedule.
• Work independently and collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and other cross-functional partners.
• Follow approved project plans, testing methods, and safety procedures while constructively sharing ideas and potential improvements.
• Help maintain an organized, safe, and effective laboratory and prototype environment.
