Job summary

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is seeking an R&D Engineer Membranes to apply advanced laboratory expertise to the development and performance of our TPO membrane product lines. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive R&D/laboratory experience.
• Experience with polymer testing, formulation, membrane/film characterization, extrusion, or compounding preferred.
• Strong experimental, analytical, statistical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments involving TPO membrane materials, following established methods and SOPs.
• Perform and oversee physical, mechanical, and chemical testing using ASTM standards and laboratory instrumentation such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, and mechanical testers.
• Lead TPO formulation studies involving polyolefin blending, UV stabilizers, flame retardants, and TiO₂ pigment systems.
• Support pilot-scale trials and develop an understanding of extrusion, compounding, lamination, calendering, and heat-welding processes.
• Support quality testing, raw material evaluations, and plant troubleshooting in partnership with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, maintain accurate laboratory documentation, and communicate findings to project teams.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to technical training and knowledge sharing.
