Job summary

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is seeking an R&D Engineer Membranes to advance TPO membrane products through expert laboratory work and cross-functional collaboration. You will design experiments, analyze results, and guide junior scientists while preparing for progression toward senior roles.

The role offers independent project work in polymer science, membrane formulation, testing, and manufacturing processes, with opportunities to mentor others and influence product development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive R&D/laboratory experience.
• Experience with polymer testing, formulation, membrane/film characterization, extrusion, or compounding preferred.
• Strong experimental, analytical, statistical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments involving TPO membrane materials, following established methods and SOPs.
• Perform and oversee physical, mechanical, and chemical testing using ASTM standards and lab instrumentation (FTIR, DSC, TGA, mechanical testers).
• Lead TPO formulation studies involving polyolefin blending, UV stabilizers, flame retardants, and TiO₂ pigment systems.
• Support pilot-scale trials and understand extrusion, compounding, lamination, calendering, and heat-welding processes.
• Support quality testing, raw material evaluations, and plant troubleshooting with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, maintain lab documentation, and communicate findings to project teams.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to technical training and knowledge sharing.
