Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks an R&D Engineer at either level 2 or 3 in the W-4 group. The role supports W88 Nuclear Weapon Systems by contributing to design, testing, and verification activities and collaborating with a team of engineers on complex programs.

Higher level responsibilities include leadership of projects and experience with W88 or related weapons systems. A strong emphasis on safety, security, and cross-organizational collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with nuclear weapon system design and development or related qualification activities.
• Experience in engineering design, development, or testing and knowledge of systems engineering principles.
• Ability to meet schedules and deliver technical results on projects.
• Ability to lead or collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research, design, test, analysis, verification, and validation of engineering solutions for R&D initiatives.
• Apply discipline-specific principles to solve a wide range of complex problems.
• Participate in milestones and work within a team to address system-level issues.
• Ensure safety and security compliance and training in all tasks.
