Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a 3D Printing R&D Engineer to advance our printing process and explore next‑generation printer architectures. You will design experiments, validate new technologies, and collaborate with mechanical, systems, and software teams to turn insights into reliable product improvements.

Ideal candidates have strong CAD skills, experience in experiment design, and a background in engineering (BS/MS/PhD).

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and analyzing experiments to guide design decisions.
  • Ability to build test fixtures and run validation experiments.
  • Proficiency in Python or Matlab for scientific computing.
  • Strong CAD modeling skills for mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Background in mechatronics or related engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Create new 3D printing techniques and printer architectures.
  • Contribute to researching and validating new technologies.
  • Tackle complex problems across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Perform experiments and use results to improve software or hardware.
  • Evaluate printer performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement product improvements.
