Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a hands-on 3D Printing R&D Engineer in Boston to advance printing processes and develop new architectures. You will work across mechanical, software, and systems teams to turn ideas into reliable, high-performance printing technology.

The role emphasizes experimental design, data-driven decision making, and collaboration to push the boundaries of additive manufacturing with a strong emphasis on hardware and software integration.

Qualifications

  • Experience with design of experiments to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to design and build test fixtures for experiments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
  • Solid background in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and mechatronics.

Responsibilities

  • Create new 3D printing techniques and printer architectures.
  • Validate changes in Galvo control and printing processes.
  • Conduct experiments and use results to improve software or hardware.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement product improvements.
