Job summary

Nexteer Automotive is seeking a self-motivated engineer for a technology development and innovation role in our R&D group. You will contribute to circuit design, board layout, testing and debugging of new power electronics, embedded systems, and sensors, while enforcing the technology development process across projects from research to production.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge and practical experience with electrical hardware and circuit design.
• Experience with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, function generators.
• Experience with software used for electrical circuit design and simulation such as Mentor Graphics, PLECS.
• Must be familiar with ECU construction methods and techniques to reduce package size and minimize power loss.
• Must have excellent problem solving and debug skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical writing. Documenting and creating technical reports and evaluations and creating procedures and processes for design and system validation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and optimize electrical hardware components.
• Develop electrical circuit and hardware designs for motion control applications.
• Perform board layout design for switching and embedded circuits.
• Create electrical designs that minimize package size and footprint.
• Develop test plans, validation setups and verification criteria for components and circuits.
• Hands-on construction, testing and debugging of new hardware for bench and vehicle systems.
• Lead and participate in design reviews and DFMEA activities for electrical hardware development.
• Collaborate across functions on technology development activities for motion control hardware.
• Document processes for modeling, design sizing, selection and analysis of electrical circuits.
• Interface with suppliers to understand latest commercially available electrical hardware products.
