Job summary

Waters is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineer to support electrical hardware development for instrumented diagnostic systems. You will work with software, mechanical, and systems teams, ensuring reliability, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
• Hands-on breadboard prototyping experience.
• Experience with microcontrollers.
• Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Familiarity with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and MCU debug probes.
• Solid understanding of electronics: LEDs, photodetectors, sensors, amplifiers, regulators, ADC/DAC.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical components: motors, relays, heaters, TEC.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of electrical, electronic and electro-optic components for automated diagnostic instruments.
• Participate in design reviews for modules and subsystems.
• Design and develop microcontroller-based modules.
• Assess manufacturability and serviceability of designs.
• Follow Global Product Development System, ISO 9001 and FDA cGMP for medical devices.
• Ensure designs comply with IVD and medical safety standards (EMC, security).
• Collaborate with software, systems, mechanical and manufacturing engineering.
• Develop and execute functional tests for modules and systems.
• Conduct failure investigations and root cause analyses.
