Safariland is seeking a self-motivated R&D Design Technician to join our Engineering and Product Development teams in a full-time, on-site role in Jacksonville, FL. The incumbent will design 2D patterns from laminates, convert them into 3D thermo-formed holster designs, assemble test samples, and collaborate with Product Design Engineers to refine prototypes into finished products.

The role requires hands-on fabrication with mills, lathes, grinders, and bandsaws, plus familiarity with adhesives,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of pattern making, design or manufacturing experience with thermoforming.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and creative drive.
• Good communication skills and ability to work constructively with others.
• Basic proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.

Responsabilités

• Design new 2D patterns using laminated materials.
• Transform 2D patterns into 3D thermo-formed holster designs.
• Construct holster test samples by installing secondary components.
• Test initial samples with Product Design Engineers and refine patterns.
• Perform fit checks of guns and holster combinations.
• Design and produce forming stands and production tooling.
• Support Manufacturing Engineering handoff and Production implementation.
• Fabricate pre-production Engineering samples for launches.
• Assist in creation of BOMs and reviews for completeness and accuracy.
• Organize physical or digital files and development tools.
