Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon division is seeking R&D Engineering & Data Science co-ops for the Summer 2027 term in Cincinnati, OH. You will analyze surgical data, contribute to tool development, and work with interdisciplinary teams across rotations, with on-site and training resources available.

Ideal candidates are pursuing engineering or computing degrees, have Python proficiency, and demonstrate leadership and a strong interest in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or computing)
• Completed a minimum of two semesters before co-op term
• Must be a student during the term and not have a graduation date before start
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Proficient in Python
• Demonstrates leadership/participation in campus programs or community service
• Legally authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the co-op term
• No visa sponsorship needed now or in the future (CPT/OPT/STEM OPT usually require sponsorship)

Responsibilities

• Analyze structured and unstructured surgical data to uncover insights for R&D teams
• Contribute to product conceptualization for new surgical tools and platforms
• Write software to enable collaborative data analysis and ensure data quality
• Develop mechanical, electrical, and biological tissue lab experiments
• Design and optimize data visualizations for stakeholders
• Collaborate with Hardware Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists across rotations
