Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a capable R&D Data Analysis and Machine Learning Software Engineer to advance research in data analysis and ML. The role centers on designing, implementing, and validating algorithms within the Environmental Sciences Laboratory of Applied Research Laboratories.

Candidates should have a PhD or Master’s preferred, with strong math, ML libraries, and MATLAB/Python in UNIX/Linux environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in the natural or engineering sciences including computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
Three or more years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with one or more: developing and evaluating data algorithms, ML libraries, strong math background, applied research, MATLAB and Python in UNIX/Linux.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, configure, apply, test, and support data analysis and machine learning algorithms.
Design and write flexible, maintainable software to meet project requirements and test accordingly.
Prepare technical documentation and presentations; present results at internal and external meetings.
Communicate with project team, supervisors, and sponsors for timely implementation of requirements.
Review peer software to improve designs and implementations.
Deploy and support software outside of ARL; perform other related functions.
