Job summary

ARUP Laboratories, based in Salt Lake City, is seeking an R&D Scientific Manager to lead a team focused on cytogenetic testing technologies including FISH, cell culture, microscopy, and digital imaging. You will guide scientific innovation, manage staff, and ensure regulatory excellence across the portfolio.

Reporting to the R&D Director, you’ll oversee research activities, budget accountability, and collaboration with Medical Directors.

Qualifications

• Four years of ARUP R&D experience or eight years of combined ARUP and outside R&D experience beyond education.
• Established academic productivity with multiple peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience leading scientific teams and projects.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for hiring, discipline, and performance reviews for R&D staff.
• Senior level technical review of documentation including assay validations.
• Mentor R&D personnel and ensure training in technical and safety procedures.
• Maintain budgets and participate in quarterly management incentives.
• Enforce ARUP policies and write/update R&D procedures as needed.
