Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking a PhD-level scientist to drive development of high-performance materials for circuitry solutions. You will create new formulations, test strategies, and optimize existing products.

Collaboration with scientists, product managers, and marketing teams globally will execute roadmaps and growth initiatives. You will work in a fast-paced lab environment, mentoring junior staff and contributing to publications and patent disclosures while advancing new

Qualifications

• PhD degree in inorganic or electrochemistry, polymer/material science, or related field with 3+ years technical research experience.
• Comfort working in a wet chemistry lab, safe handling of chemicals, solvents, and lab equipment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow procedures with high repeatability.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly in English, and manage multiple tasks under guidance from senior staff.
• Internship or 1–3 years of industrial experience in metal electrodeposition, materials R&D, formulation preferred.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as electrochemical analysis (CV, LSV, potentiostat), SEM/optical microscopy, or other materials characterization methods preferred.
• Prior exposure to semiconductor materials or work in a cleanroom/fab environment (coating, lamination, lithography, metrology) preferred.
• Experience with basic data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Minitab) to interpret experimental results preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hold self to the highest standards on safety and promote a safe lab culture.
• Research, develop, and formulate new surface treatment products for PCB, molded interconnect, connector, and IC substrate industries.
• Understand patents and literature for new resin systems, chemistry, and polymers.
• Deliver presentations/reports distilling complex ideas into precise results and proposals.
• Participate in workgroup meetings addressing safety, process improvement, and problem-solving.
• Mentor junior scientists and technologists.
• Document work in internal presentations and external publications; draft patent disclosures as appropriate.
• Leverage external networks for project success and engage with customers/OEMs.
• Follow EH&S standards and company policies; handle confidential information per NDA.
• Work in a high-paced, multi-task environment; self-motivated with minimal supervision.
