Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a business segment of Element Solutions Inc, seeks an innovative R&D Chemist to join our global team. You will develop new surface treatment products for PCB and related industries, applying chemistry expertise to create commercially viable solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, safety, and documentation, with mentoring from senior scientists and opportunities to influence product development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BA degree in inorganic or electrochemistry, Polymer/material science, or related field with 3+ years technical research experience.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of both physical and chemical analysis.
• R&D instrumental labs and working in a research laboratory are preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking ability
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and evolving project scopes

Responsibilities

• Hold self to the highest standards on safety.
• Research, develop, and formulate new surface treatment products for PCB, molded interconnect, connector and IC substrate industries.
• Have a basic understanding of the patent and literature for new resin systems, chemistry, and polymers across related technology areas.
• Help develop presentations/reports that distill complex ideas into precise results and proposals.
• Actively participate in workgroup meetings addressing safety, process improvement, problem-solving, and other topics.
• Receive mentoring from senior level scientists and technologists.
• Communicate and appropriately document work.
• Understand and follow EH&S standards, policies, and procedures.
• Carry out responsibilities under company policies and applicable laws; maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment.
