Afton Chemical Corporation is seeking a Chemical Technician in Richmond, VA to perform industry and company-specific laboratory tests and record data to support R&D projects.

The role involves safety compliance, test development, data interpretation, and collaboration with teams to communicate results and ensure timely reporting. Strong lab aptitude and willingness to train, with opportunities to blend components and work on ISO documentation.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Demonstrated lab and/or chemistry training, experience or aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety related activities and maintain up-to-date understanding of safety procedures.
• Perform industry and Afton specific laboratory tests using established procedures and assist in test development.
• Complete preliminary analysis and interpretation of test results; prepare reports and communicate results.
• Operate specialized test equipment and maintain lab instruments.
• Purchase, maintain, and/or obtain adequate inventory of samples and lab supplies.
• Maintain technical expertise through training and seminars as directed.
• May blend components or develop new formulations to meet objectives.
• Represent Afton with customers or industry groups as needed.
• Maintain ISO documentation and participate in ISO activities.
