Job description

Chemistry lab technician for Physical Properties Testing within the Richmond R&D Analytical Department.

Responsibilities:

1. Active participant in company safety culture.
2. Conduct safe laboratory practices, and maintain understanding of and compliance with company, industry and government safety procedures and regulations.
3. Primary analyst for Flashpoint, viscosity, and Insoluble material testing. Back up analyst on additional physical properties and elemental analysis tests.
4. Maintain documentation and conformance with ISO 9001 and/or 17025 for assigned test areas.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience Minimums:

1. High school graduate, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
2. Demonstrated lab and/or chemistry training, experience, or aptitude.

Preferred Education and Experience:

1. Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science.
2. At least 2 years of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
3. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Skills/Abilities:

1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of safe laboratory practices and procedures.
2. Ability to perform standardized laboratory procedures with intermediate to minimal supervision.
3. Effectively manage multiple tasks and changing priorities to achieve completion within the agreed-on timeframe.
4. Ability to collaborate cooperatively with fellow analysts, researchers, and stakeholders across clients organizational matrix to achieve business objectives.
