Job summary

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. seeks an Associate Scientist - R&D Product Enhancement & Support to advance our on-market and future product portfolio.

You will perform bench experiments, analyze data, and build software tools to inform product improvements in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate brings a biology/biochemistry/chemistry background, at least 3 years in an industrial lab, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry or chemistry, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years laboratory bench experience with understanding of biological and chemical principles and concepts as they relate to commercial products.
• Adaptable with an ability to multi-task and adjust priorities as necessary.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
• Goal and detail oriented with organizational skills and ability to plan work.
• Takes initiative and is accountable; focuses on task at hand.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle the stress of deadlines.
• Proficient with MS Office and JMP.

Responsibilities

• Use a variety of laboratory diagnostic tools to enhance assays and perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses and diseases.
• Perform independently and mentor lab associates to support weekly diagnostic testing on samples.
• Prepare materials, perform experiments, gather data, carry out analysis and reach conclusions; input on experimental design.
• Document experiments and other lab activities; prepare reports and summaries; present results and conclusions.
• Work independently and cooperatively as part of a team and cross-functionally on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Prepare and communicate presentations, results, and conclusions to stakeholders and team members.
