Job summary

Avalir is seeking a Quoting Specialist for an on-site role in Chatsworth, CA. You will review RFQs for PCBAs, coordinate pricing from distributors and manufacturers, and work with Engineering to include labor estimates in final quotes.

Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Program Managers, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure accurate quotes that meet ITAR/EAR and aerospace requirements. Requires ERP/MRP and Epicor experience, plus advanced Excel skills; candidate must be US citizens or permanent

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 3–5 years as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist within a manufacturing environment; contract manufacturing preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB fabrication processes, and assembly methods; basic understanding of ITAR/EAR and aerospace supplier requirements is a plus.
• Systems & Tools: ERP/MRP or quoting systems experience (Epicor highly preferred); advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis).
• Commercial Skills: Demonstrated negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management skills.
• Communication & Pace: Works and communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers; thrives in a fast-paced, high-mix, high-change environment.

Responsibilities

• Review customer RFQs for PCBAs to understand scope, requirements, and delivery expectations.
• Compile and validate BOMs and requirements, including revisions, quantities, and special instructions.
• Obtain electronic component pricing from distributors and direct manufacturers for quotes.
• Source PCB fabrication pricing from multiple board houses with turnaround times, NRE, and panelization options.
• Validate pricing against customer requirements including ITAR/EAR and aerospace restrictions.
• Coordinate with Engineering to incorporate labor, assembly, test, and process costs into the final quote.
• Consolidate material, labor, tooling, and PCB fabrication costs into a comprehensive quote package.
• Submit quotes within timelines and support follow-up inquiries.
• Manage multiple RFQs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Quoting Specialist to review customer RFQs for PCBAs and coordinate the collection of pricing from electronic component distributors and direct manufacturers, as well as board house pricing for PCBs. You will collaborate with the engineering team to incorporate labor estimates into final RFQ submissions. This role serves as a critical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely quotes for high-profile aerospace customer accounts.

Location & Eligibility

This is an on-site position based in Chatsworth, CA. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents as required by ITAR.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quote Development & Pricing

• Review customer RFQs for PCBAs to understand scope, requirements, and delivery expectations
• Compile and validate all BOMs and requirements, including revisions, quantities, and special instructions
• Obtain electronic component pricing from distributors and direct manufacturers, ensuring competitive and compliant quotes
• Source PCB fabrication pricing from multiple board houses, capturing turnaround times, NRE, and panelization options as applicable
• Validate pricing against customer requirements, including ITAR/EAR considerations and any aerospace-specific restrictions
• Coordinate with Engineering to incorporate labor, assembly, test, and any specialized process costs into the final quote
• Consolidate material, labor, tooling, and PCB fabrication costs into a comprehensive quote package that aligns with Avalir's terms, lead times, and delivery commitments
• Submit quotes to customers within agreed timelines and support any follow-up inquiries
• Manage multiple RFQs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative, ownership, and reliability in delivering accurate quotes on time

Collaboration, Data & Compliance

• Partner with Sales, Engineering, Program Managers, Quality, and Purchasing to align quote content with program milestones and customer expectations
• Communicate quote status, assumptions, and risk factors clearly to internal stakeholders and customers
• Work with customers to clarify requirements and address questions to improve quote accuracy
• Maintain documentation and traceability of all quote-related communications and pricing sources
• Maintain up-to-date supplier pricing catalogs and escalation paths for cost changes
• Track quote history and win/loss data to support continuous improvement and pricing strategy
• Ensure compliance with Avalir policies, applicable aerospace standards, and confidentiality requirements during all quoting activities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field; APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) certification
• Industry & Compliance EMS/PCBA procurement experience strongly preferred; familiarity with aerospace/defense supply chain requirements (e.g., ITAR/EAR)
• Component & Technical Expertise Working knowledge of electronic component types, datasheets, and franchised distribution channels; able to read and interpret assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Supply Risk Management Experience managing component shortages, allocations, end-of-life (EOL), and counterfeit-mitigation processes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• BASE SALARY $75,000 - $85,000
