Shabby Fabrics, based in Post Falls, Idaho, seeks a Quilt Pattern Writer to develop and document engaging quilt patterns for our growing library.

You will craft patterns end-to-end, using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Electric Quilt, while ensuring accuracy and clear instructions for quilters of all levels. This role emphasizes collaboration with the design team and meticulous quality control.

Qualifications

• Experience in quilt pattern writing or design.
• Proficiency with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Electric Quilt.
• Excel experience for organizing pattern data.
• Strong attention to detail and design sense.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with quilting techniques, terminology, and trends.
• Knowledge of machine embroidery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pattern Creation: Develop original quilt patterns that are innovative and visually appealing for quilters of all levels.
• Utilize design software to create and edit quilt patterns with precision.
• Demonstrate understanding of quilting mechanics, block construction, fabric selection, and finishing techniques.
• Manage multiple quilt pattern projects and meet deadlines with high quality deliverables.
• Proofread and ensure accuracy and clarity in quilt patterns.
• Collaborate with design team to align patterns with brand aesthetics and customer preferences.
• Maintain organized records of quilt patterns, diagrams, and materials.
• Clearly communicate pattern instructions, techniques, and tips for easy understanding.
• Review and test quilt patterns to ensure they meet quality standards and are error-free before publication.
