Job summary

Shabby Fabrics in Post Falls, Idaho seeks a Quilt Pattern Writer to develop engaging quilt patterns for our growing pattern library. You will craft patterns for quilters of all levels, using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Electric Quilt to ensure precise, market-ready designs.

You will collaborate with the design team, manage multiple projects, and document instructions, diagrams, and materials with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in quilt pattern writing or design.
• Proficiency with design software listed (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Electric Quilt).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for organizing pattern data.
• Excellent attention to detail and design sense.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects without compromising quality.
• Knowledge of quilting techniques, terminology, and trends.
• Machine embroidery knowledge is a plus.
• Preference for candidates in Spokane/ Coeur d’Alene area or willing to relocate.

Job Description:

Are you passionate about quilting and skilled in creating intricate quilt patterns? We are seeking a talented Quilt Pattern Writer to join our team and contribute to the development of our quilting pattern library. As a Quilt Pattern Writer, you will play a vital role in crafting engaging and easy-to-follow quilt patterns for our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Pattern Creation: Develop original quilt patterns that are innovative, visually appealing, and suitable for quilters of all skill levels.
• Software Proficiency: Utilize design software, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Electric Quilt to create and edit quilt patterns with precision and creativity.
• Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the mechanics of quilting and machine embroidery, including block construction, fabric selection, and finishing techniques.
• Project Management: Manage multiple quilt pattern projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.
• Detail-Oriented: Exhibit excellent attention to detail when creating and proofreading quilt patterns to ensure accuracy and clarity.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design team to align pattern creation with overall brand aesthetic and customer preferences.
• Documentation: Maintain organized records and documentation of quilt patterns, including detailed instructions, diagrams, and material requirements.
• Communication: Clearly communicate pattern instructions, techniques, and tips to ensure they are easily understood by our audience.
• Quality Assurance: Review and test quilt patterns to ensure they meet quality standards and are error‑free before publication.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in quilt pattern writing or design.

• Priority will be given to candidates who are currently based in the Spokane/ Coeur d’Alene area or are open to relocating.
