Job summary

Centex-Materials in Texas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain industrial production equipment. You will disassemble, troubleshoot, read manuals and blueprints, and verify repairs by operating the machinery.

A safety-first mindset is essential, along with the ability to work long shifts and weekends. You will document repairs, manage parts and tools, and work with a team to keep plants running at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Proven teamwork skills in a maintenance environment.
• Familiar with safety PPE procedures.

Responsibilities

• Repair or maintain operating condition of industrial machinery.
• Disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble equipment.
• Clean, lubricate, adjust parts, and assess wear.
• Record repairs and parts used; order replacements as needed.
• Demonstrate equipment functions to operators.
• Read blueprints and manuals to install or operate machinery.
• Ensure a safe, clean plant environment.

Job description

Primary Duties

• Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
• Disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble machinery or equipment
• Clean, lubricate/grease, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
• Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
• Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
• Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
• o VFDs, soft starts and PLCs are primary source of error messages
• Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as necessary.
• o Including the ability to read part diagrams and order the correct parts.
• Record repairs and maintenance performed.
• Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
• Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
• Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
• Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
• Safety mindset at all times is a must.
• Maintain a clean environment at all plant locations, including your own workspace.

Secondary Duties

• Run equipment including plants
• Shovel/clean areas as required
• Perform any role on sites as requested once trained on that job.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Must be able to work 12+ hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to read equipment operating manual
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection forms
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment & PPE
• Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Must be service orientated with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment
