Job summary

Infleqtion in Chicago, IL is offering a Summer 2027 Internship in Quantum Software (QSW) within the Software Engineering team. This intern-level, full-time role provides hands-on experience across application and middleware layers on cutting-edge quantum software.

You will work with a mentor, attend research talks, and contribute to real-world quantum projects. Primary location is Chicago, with opportunities to engage in global programs and publication of findings.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in CS, engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field in the US.
• Strong programming skills, with Python preferred; able to upskill quickly in Python.
• Cover letter required; samples of past project encouraged.
• Sharing publicly-available GitHub (or similar) projects is strongly recommended

Responsibilities

• Conduct R&D toward quantum software advances, focusing on quantum compilation.
• Deploy software optimizations on cloud platform Superstaq with standard engineering practices.
• Interface with Superstaq customers to understand needs and provide timely support.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers bridging theory to practical implementation.
• Publish research findings and present at conferences; stay updated on quantum tech.
• Mentor other team members and contribute to real-world applications of quantum algorithms.
• Expand existing or develop new quantum algorithms for real-world applications
