Job summary

Atom Computing seeks a Quantum Software Manager in Berkeley, CA to balance hands-on software with leadership. You will drive research-oriented workflows, mentor a team of software and quantum engineers, and deliver production-grade software for fault-tolerant quantum computing.

The role spans full-stack work with physicists and mathematicians and reports to the Director of Quantum Error Correction. This office-based role requires in-person presence in Berkeley several days per week and offers a

Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or related field; PhD a plus.
Experience leading a small engineering team.
5+ years of post-degree experience as a software engineer.
Proven track record leading teams to develop and deliver complex software.
Experience with research-oriented scientific software.
Collaborative mindset and experience working on a multidisciplinary team.
Experience with quantum computing and quantum error correction are preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of approximately 5 software engineers and quantum software engineers.
Support the development of research-oriented software and associated workflows.
Work with physicists and mathematicians to develop production-grade software required for running fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Work closely with Atom Computing's quantum error correction team to understand use cases and deliver software and developer experiences that address the needs of the team.
