Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Production Manager to lead a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing floor at our Bothell, WA site. You will bridge cutting-edge quantum engineering with scalable operations, managing a skilled team of technicians across electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies.

You will partner with Supply Chain and Program Management to optimize production workflows, implement scalable production models, and drive continuous improvement through LEAN and 5S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing production/manufacturing operations in a high-mix, low-volume environment (aerospace, defense, medical devices, semiconductor, or advanced scientific instrumentation).
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, or related technical discipline; equivalent hands-on leadership experience considered.
• Proven track record of effective people leadership, with talent development and performance management.
• Experience managing dynamic build plans with rapid, flexible pivot planning.
• Experience driving operational maturity via standardized practices.
• High-level understanding of complex electromechanical and optomechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and resource a team of technicians; design and maintain training programs to accelerate development and optical alignment capacity.
• Coach Production Support Engineers to rapidly resolve non-conformances and provide build support during late-stage NPI and production runs.
• Own production execution and customer deliveries, optimize short- and long-term build plans, re-factor schedules in real time.
• Partner with Supply Chain Management to align component lead times and mitigate bottlenecks and material shortages.
• Optimize floor layout and inventory strategies with Inventory and Logistics to maximize throughput and minimize waste.
• Develop and sustain workflows; collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to formalize processes.
• Participate in NPI programs as a Production representative, allocating resources as capacity allows.
• Forecast staffing needs and manage resource planning across the team.
• Communicate priorities, progress, risks, and needs to senior leadership for cross-functional alignment.
