Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Quantum Science Communications Specialist to translate advances in quantum information science into clear, engaging stories for researchers, media, government, and the public.

You will partner with scientists and communications colleagues to develop content, including stories, social media, presentations, and reports, while coordinating with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-impact communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, corporate communications, English, or a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience.
• Strong science writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, and research skills to communicate quantum information science.
• Experience communicating science via social media and multimedia.
• Experience interacting with high-level internal and external contacts.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, collaboration and client-service skills.
• Proven creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and project-management skills.
• Proficient with print and electronic publishing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop clear stories about quantum information science for diverse audiences.
• Write, edit, and produce content for news media, scientific audiences, and the public.
• Create communications products including stories, social media content, presentations, reports, white papers, leadership messages, and stakeholder materials.
• Translate complex quantum concepts into audience-appropriate communications.
• Coordinate with Berkeley Lab teams, DOE stakeholders, partner institutions, vendors, and services to deliver projects.
• Manage multiple assignments, adhering to policies and deadlines.
