Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a full-time Quantum Optics Communication Engineer to support programs on entanglement-based quantum communication networks and applications, including distributed sensing and interconnected quantum computing.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, strong mathematical background, and experience with quantum optics theory, communications theory, and quantum networks. Collaboration and proof-of-concept demonstrations are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical foundation and experience with quantum optics theory.
  • Experience with entanglement-based communications, sensing and computing applications and quantum network architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of entanglement-based quantum communication network architectures and applications.
  • Analyze architectures for entanglement distribution and related components (entanglement generation, Bell-state measurements, quantum memories, transduction).
  • Engage in information-theoretic system analysis to improve connectivity, bandwidth and performance.
  • Possibly contribute to hardware or software demonstrations to validate new capabilities.
