Job summary

Quantinuum in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking a Layout Automation Engineering Intern to help automate and accelerate the physical layout of ion traps and related chips. You will explore layout automation tools, develop Python and SKILL based automation scripts, and contribute to R&D layout projects while gaining exposure to tapeout processes and Cadence/EDA workflows.

This role offers hands-on experience with a world-class hardware/software team and opportunities to influence automation strategies

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree with graduation date on/after 2027.
• U.S. person required due to contractual and security requirements.
• Citizenship or eligible status must align with U.S. government restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Explore layout automation tools and workflows; perform trade studies and develop use cases.
• Develop Python and SKILL based automation tools for ion trap layout and verify effectiveness.
• Assist with small R&D layout projects and gain exposure to tapeout processes.
