Job summary

Quantinuum in Brooklyn Park, MN seeks a Principal Engineer to lead layout automation and AI-driven design workflows. You will partner with design and CAD teams, define productivity metrics, and deliver scalable automation that improves cycle time, quality, and predictability.

The role requires 8+ years in IC/physical design or related fields, with strong Python/C++ automation skills and experience with Cadence/Siemens EDA tools. Competitive compensation and equity available.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience developing automation solutions with scripting languages.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical efforts from concept to deployment.
Strong communication and influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a roadmap for layout automation and AI-enabled workflows.
Define productivity metrics and drive significant cycle-time reductions.
Identify opportunities for automation across layout, verification, tape-out, and release.
Create software tools and AI-assisted workflows to reduce manual effort.
Lead integration of generative AI and ML into engineering processes.
Collaborate with layout engineers and CAD teams to capture best practices.
Establish data pipelines and dashboards to measure efficiency and ROI.
Drive adoption of new tools through training and technical leadership.
Work with EDA vendors to evaluate and deploy capabilities.
Serve as technical leader for design automation across programs.
Mentor engineers and influence automation investments.
