Job summary

Milo’s Tea Company in Spartanburg seeks a Quality Trainee for the PM shift to ensure production quality and safety. The role requires processing samples, performing routine testing, and upholding GMP/SQF standards while coordinating with QA management.

The ideal candidate has an AA degree (or equivalent) with preferred biology/chemistry coursework or related experience. Shift runs 5:30pm–6:00am; overtime/weekends possible, with strong emphasis on food safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school minimum.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Science, or Chemistry is preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure products meet Milo’s quality standards and maintain food safety.
• Obtain samples for bacterial plating and daily quality checks.
• Monitor GMP or SQF compliance and document results.
• Maintain laboratory/testing equipment and perform calibrations as scheduled.
• Assist with receipt of raw ingredients and sample testing/review.
• Conduct environmental testing of air, water, and surfaces per schedule.

Some weekend work required.*** **RESPONSIBILITIES*** Ensure all products are produced per Milo’s quality standards.* Obtain samples for bacteria plating and daily quality checks as needed.* Monitor compliance with and administer GMP or SQF requirements.* Ensure Food Safety and Food Quality compliance as directed.* Maintain all laboratory and testing equipment and perform calibrations per schedule.* Assist with the receipt of raw ingredients and sample, test and/or review.* Monitor FIFO and communicate concerns to the QA Manager.* Perform testing and document weights, volumes, colors, brix, codes, packaging integrity, and other routine testing as required.* Perform environmental testing of air, water, and bacteria according to schedules.* Perform additional duties as directed by the QA Manager.* Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.* Collect and prepare samples for shipment as needed.* Uphold and participate in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy and MMAD volunteering opportunities.* Invest in and is an example of Milo’s Responsibility commitment which includes environmental, social, and corporate governance components. **QUALIFICATIONS*** Applicants must have an Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school minimum.
