Chipton-Ross is seeking a Quality Test Specialist 1 for a contract opportunity in El Segundo, CA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
  • Experience operating Articulated Arm-style Portable CMMs (e.g. FARO arm, Romer Arm, etc.).
  • Experience operating and programming bridge-style CMM (e.g. Brown & Sharpe, Hexagon).
  • Experience with manual measuring tools (Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, Gauge Pins & Blocks, Micrometers, Calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols (ASME Y14.5).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Gains understanding of the principles for development or improvement of inspection or test techniques. Follows documented procedures to make test coupons for use in test processes. Gains working knowledge of and perform basic setup and calibration of specialized test or measurement equipment. Follows documented procedures to perform basic tests or inspections and collects data for evaluation of process equipment, software, solutions, products or materials. Analyzes routine test, inspection or statistical data to determine product and processes conformity. Elevates anomalous results as required. Gains working knowledge of and performs basic documentation of standard test, analysis or measurement results per documented procedures. Works under close supervision.

  • Perform precision inspection of machined, fabricated, and assembled components to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Use height gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, gauge blocks, micrometers, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to measure critical dimensions and assess part quality.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and inspection plans.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, geometric tolerances, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify and document defects, deviations, and out-of-tolerance conditions, and communicate findings to Quality Engineering, REA, and Operations teams.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area following site requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams (Machine Shop) to improve process control and reduce machining-related discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and site/customer quality requirements.

Successful completion of training is a contingency for this assignment - OJT or formal classroom training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks.
  • Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis.
REQUIRED EDUCATION

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. 2 years' related work experience).

WORK HOURS

Full-Time/First Shift
6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
OT/DOT expected: Yes, as business needs.
