Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Quality Assurance professional in a manufacturing setting. The role focuses on maintaining a proactive quality culture, applying 8D/NCR methods, and auditing daily activities to prevent non-conformances.

You will escalate issues to QA Engineers and drive continuous improvement across production, engineering, and vendors. The candidate should have 3–5 years in QA, strong measurement skills, and familiarity with SPC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3–5 years in a QA role in manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with NCRs, 8D, and quality documentation is preferred.
• Experience using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape) for quality checks.
• Willingness to learn the production process and related procedures.
• Quality certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) preferred.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle pressure and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attitude aligned with reliability, accountability, safety, integrity, quality, and productivity.
• Use NCR process and 8D to build quality into processes and identify non-conformances.
• Initiate, manage by priority, and close NCRs.
• Escalate recurring non-conformances to QA Engineers.
• Record and analyze cost of poor quality and customer complaints; manage external complaints and RGAs.
• Transfer corrective actions to FMEA controls and update group plans.
• Ensure training and SOP compliance across areas; train associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain positive, progressive, and productive attitude toward plant targets and objectives regarding reliability, accountability, safety, integrity, quality, and productivity as a unified goal.
• Utilize the NCR process and 8D approach to building quality into the processes including but not limited to: Internally Audit daily work activities within the organization to identify non-conformances in process that require sustained correction.
• Expeditiously Initiate, Manage-by-Priority, and Close out NCR's.
• Escalate repeated non-conformances or advanced level problems to QA Engineers.
• Measures cost of poor quality and number of customer complaints Manages external complaints and handles RGA's.
• Transfers all NCR corrective actions to FMEA critical controls and adds those controls to Groups control plan.
• Ensures all associates in respective area are competently trained and practicing proper operating procedures to ensure a quality product is passed through all stations.
• Identifies opportunities to builds quality into the products and processes.
• Liaise closely with engineering, production, safety, vendors to ensure product compliance.
• Engage in any improvements which seek to drive the COPQ down.
• Assist development of a fully documented SOP's for all activities within the organization.
• Deliver training for any new quality improvement Controls feedback from first and second party MS audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of High school diploma or GED
• 3-5 years' experience working in an advanced technical QA position in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• 3-5 years' experience quality related document control preferred.
• 3-5 years' experience using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, and/or tape measures) to do in-depth quality checks.
• Must be willing to learn the entire process of the production line where you are assigned
• Quality related certifications and training highly preferred (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to handle pressure and request resources when necessary.
• Ability to work as a member of a team in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to plan and organize your responsibilities according to needs of the company
• Ability to make decision and self-pace your work. Strong prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated tenacious problem-solving ability in an organized manner using 8D/NCR methodology.
• Experience with Data Collection and SPC.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and measure or test product to determine conformance.
• Trained on Internal Auditor.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Teachable to grow reporting skills.
• Ability to occasionally travel to vendors and clients to handle NCR's.
• Ability to interact with multiple people at different levels to include but not limited to upper management, production, engineering, clients, and vendors to creatively resolve quality issues.
• Must act in the best interest of E&I to clients and suppliers.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Due to the nature of our work, Team Members may be required to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis, carry objects over distance, bend/twist, squat, climb ladders, sit or stand for extended periods of time, use tools requiring manual dexterity, and may be required to operate powered industrial equipment.
