Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to support manufacturing operations and drive adherence to NCR/8D methodologies. The role requires hands-on experience with measurement tools, data collection, and process improvement initiatives to ensure product conformance across all stations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3-5 years in advanced technical QA in manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with document control and quality records is preferred.
  • Experience using measuring tools to perform quality checks.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or Kaizen training is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to learn entire production line process.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to vendors/clients.

Job description

Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Maintain positive, progressive, and productive attitude toward plant targets and objectives regarding reliability, accountability, safety, integrity, quality, and productivity as a unified goal.
  • Utilize the NCR process and 8D approach to building quality into the processes including but not limited to:
  • Internally Audit daily work activities within the organization to identify non-conformances in process that require sustained correction.
  • Expeditiously Initiate, Manage-by-Priority, and Close out NCR’s.
  • Escalate repeated non-conformances or advanced level problems to QA Engineers.
  • Measures cost of poor quality and number of customer complaints
  • Manages external complaints and handles RGA’s.
  • Transfers all NCR corrective actions to FMEA critical controls and adds those controls to Groups control plan.
  • Ensures all associates in respective area are competently trained and practicing proper operating procedures to ensure a quality product is passed through all stations.
  • Identifies opportunities to builds quality into the products and processes.
  • Liaise closely with engineering, production, safety, vendors to ensure product compliance.
  • Engage in any improvements which seek to drive the COPQ down.
  • Assist development of a fully documented SOP’s for all activities within the organization.
  • Deliver training for any new quality improvement
  • Controls feedback from first and second party MS audits.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years' experience working in an advanced technical QA position in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience quality related document control preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, and/or tape measures) to do in-depth quality checks.
  • Must be willing to learn the entire process of the production line where you are assigned
  • Quality related certifications and training highly preferred (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle pressure and request resources when necessary.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to plan and organize your responsibilities according to needs of the company
  • Ability to make decision and self-pace your work. Strong prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated tenacious problem-solving ability in an organized manner using 8D/NCR methodology.
  • Experience with Data Collection and SPC.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and measure or test product to determine conformance.
  • Trained on Internal Auditor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Teachable to grow reporting skills.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to vendors and clients to handle NCR’s.
  • Ability to interact with multiple people at different levels to include but not limited to upper management, production, engineering, clients, and vendors to creatively resolve quality issues.
  • Must act in the best interest of E&I to clients and suppliers.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Due to the nature of our work, Team Members may be required to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis, carry objects over distance, bend/twist, squat, climb ladders, sit or stand for extended periods of time, use tools requiring manual dexterity, and may be required to operate powered industrial equipment.
