  • Ability to identify and document nonconforming material.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintaining inspection records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components to verify conformance with drawings and quality requirements.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and certifications.
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate products while documenting results and maintaining quality records.
  • Identify and document nonconforming products and support MRB and corrective actions.
  • Assist with calibration and verification of inspection equipment.
  • Support internal audits and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-train within Quality and collaborate with production and engineering.

Job Summary

MS Companies is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Franklin, Indiana, to hire a Quality Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity.

The Quality Technician will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure manufactured products meet applicable drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This position is well suited for someone with hands-on inspection experience who is comfortable working with precision measuring equipment, reading blueprints and technical documentation, identifying nonconforming material, and maintaining accurate quality records.

Candidates with experience in aerospace, automotive, precision manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or another quality-driven production environment are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of quality, inspection, or closely related manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience performing dimensional inspection using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and/or optical comparators.
  • Ability to inspect products against established specifications and accurately identify and document nonconforming material.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to accurately maintain inspection and quality records.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous quality inspection experience within aerospace, automotive, precision manufacturing, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with advanced dimensional inspection or metrology equipment, including FARO Arm or comparable portable measurement/CMM technology.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) or working with similar structured inspection processes.
  • FPI Level II or other nondestructive testing experience/certification.
  • Technical degree or additional education in quality, manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with root cause/corrective action (RCCA), MRB processes, internal audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong Excel skills, including experience organizing and analyzing quality or manufacturing data.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement training or experience.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured components and products to verify conformance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, certifications, specifications, and other approved technical documentation.
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate products and production-related equipment while documenting inspection results and maintaining accurate quality records.
  • Identify and document nonconforming products, create rejection documentation, and support MRB and corrective-action activities.
  • Support calibration and verification of inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Assist with internal audits, customer concerns, root-cause investigations, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-train within the Quality function and work collaboratively with production, engineering, and other internal teams to maintain high product-quality standards.
Physical and Environment Requirements

This position operates within a manufacturing and inspection environment and requires light to moderate physical activity.

Physical expectations may include:

  • Regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and movement throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and accurately operate precision inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed product and dimensional inspections.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment, materials, and production processes.
