Job Description:
- Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the customer"s quality requirements are satisfied. Will provide direction to meet those requirements through review of personnel, equipment and processes on a basis relevant to the customer requirement. Review standards and customer specifications in order to communicate customer expectation/requirements to manufacturing and inspection.
- Review customer purchase orders for specification and drawing requirements
- Compile, review for technical accuracy, approve, and submit First Article Inspection Reports to customers
- Assist in development of standard operating procedures
- Development of Quality & Inspection plans including, but not limited to: ballooning prints, review specifications, completion and compilation of AS9102 forms
- Review and approve supplier First Article Inspection Reports
- Facilitate root cause, corrective and preventive actions
- Initiate and submit customer nonconformance reports when required
- Assist with quality training throughout the organization
- Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met
- Plan and schedule product movement thru the Inspection areas.
- Schedule employee work hours to ensure inspection and gage setup coverage during all production hours.
- Review and approve employee work hours for the shop floor payroll system.
- Monitor and maintain the gage calibration system and gage calibration procedures.
- Monitor, maintain and improve the 'first piece inspection check' in system in Shop Floor.
- Develop gages and surface plate layout procedures.
- Any other assigned duties
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in relevant subject area with two years practical experience or Associate degree with three years practical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Experience with precision measurement equipment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
- Practical experience with Database administration
- Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement
- Customer quality assurance experience
- Previous audit experience
Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
- Working knowledge of AS9102, RR SABRe, GE S-1000, P&W ASQR-01
- Knowledge of ISO9001 or AS9100
- Working knowledge of various inspection tools
- Problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- PPAP Elements including PFMEA"s, Control Plans, Process Flow, etc.
- Dimensional inspection knowledge/experience
- Project management experience a plus
