Job summary

Chicago Tube and Iron Company (CTI) in Romeoville, IL is seeking a Quality Technician to join our team. You will support new and existing products from planning through production, working with Production, Engineering, and Quality to ensure parts meet CTI quality standards.

The role involves hands-on inspection, reading blueprints with GD&T, creating quality documents, and using calipers and portable CMM equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
• 2+ years of related quality or manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of PPAP and new-part implementation processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including GD&T.
• Experience with calipers and portable CMM equipment.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop quality documentation and inspection processes for value-added and fabricated parts.
• Create process inspection sheets and balloon drawings for first-article and in-process inspections.
• Partner with the New Products Manager to support PPAPs, PFMEAs, process flows, and control plans.
• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections to verify products meet specifications.
• Perform inspections using a portable CMM and develop CMM programs as needed.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
• Inspect outsourced parts and document/report nonconforming material.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions across manufacturing processes.
• Analyze process and quality data using statistical tools to identify trends and opportunities.
• Assist with rework and disposition of nonconforming products.
• Review, develop, and revise quality and testing procedures.
• Verify production processes and finished parts meet established quality standards.
• Maintain, calibrate, and clean inspection and testing equipment.
