Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Technician provides quality support for manufacturing operations; conducts various inspections and audits to provide feedback as a base for measuring quality performance and identifying areas for improvement. Provides complete precision inspection of parts, fixtures, gauges, and tools to determine exacting compliance to customer specifications and requirements. Familiar with applied use of a variety of measurement equipment (handheld and stand-alone). Programs and troubleshoots advanced metrology equipment such Coordinate Measuring Machine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts inspection and/or audits to measure conformance to customer and/or MKC specifications.
  • Provides assistance in Non-conforming Material segregation, coordination and inspection activities in support of production operations, as required.
  • Supports the maintenance of visual standards for use in the inspection process to clarify the status of questionable product; including control and proper storage of physical parts.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Heavy Manufacturing Environment. MKC houses different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to noisy. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to regularly walk throughout all the manufacturing facilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

  • Candidate must have high School education or equivalent
  • One year of quality related experience, such as use of basic metrology equipment and recording of quality data, or in a manufacturing environment with product inspection responsibilities.
  • 3 years experience operating standard metrology equipment including Coordinate Measuring Machines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
JOB SKILLS
  • Basic math skills as well as competence in reading and writing of the English language.
  • The ability to use a computer, execute Microsoft based programs and the aptitude to learn to use Excel at an average level.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (person must be able to communicate with all levels in the company).
