The role requires reading blueprints, using calipers and micrometers, and documenting test data; with at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing and a high school diploma. The position involves lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for long shifts in a shop environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
  • Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages).
  • Coordinates activities related to MRB or supports as directed. Supports containment and/or sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.
  • 2. Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • 3. Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
  • 4. Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • 5. Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)
  • 6. Coordinates activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed. Supports containment and/or sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
  • 7. Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Requirements
  • * Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • * Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the degree necessary.
  • * Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
  • * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • * Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.
Educational Requirements
  • * High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience Requirements
  • * One year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • * Some physical demand; occasionally lifts light to medium-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 25 lbs/1-11 kgs) material.
  • * Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • * Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • * May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
