Job summary

MEC in Hazel Park, MI is seeking a Quality Inspector to verify product conformance from engineering drawings and standards. You will operate measurement equipment, record data, and support MRB activities to ensure customer requirements are met.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and about one year in manufacturing or engineering, plus the ability to read blueprints and write clear reports. This full-time role involves standing and lifting up to 25 lbs on an 8–12 hour shift.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, or standards to inspect or test product to determine fit for conformance or customer requirements.
  • Record test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Document reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards.
  • Support calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • Operate measurement equipment to evaluate product conformance (e.g., CMMs, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers).
  • Coordinate MRB activities and support containment or sorting as directed by quality leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
  • Supports calibration of tools and gauges as required.
  • Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)

Job Skills Requirements

  • Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.
Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience Requirements
  • One year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Some physical demand; occasionally lifts light to medium-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 25 lbs/1-11 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
