Job description

Eaton’s CPDI PDI division is currently seeking a Quality Technician - 1st shift. The Richmond, VA site specifically focuses on critical power distribution for multiple segments, including Utilities, Data Centers, Hospitality, and Commercial Institutions. The Quality Technician - 1st shift offers a 40-hour paid week with hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, full benefits, and a 401K match plan.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.84 per hour.

What you’ll do:

This position will be responsible for inspecting products to ensure they meet company and customer quality expectations.

In this function you will:

  1. Perform part and product inspections, document the results, identify and quarantine Non-Conforming (NC) parts.
  2. Determine the Root Cause of Non-Conforming Parts.
  3. Verify First Article Inspection (FAI) of all production lines.
  4. Perform Control and Process audits as scheduled.
  5. Report inspections and audits using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  6. Create Quality Alerts and notify operators of quality issues.
  7. Investigate Non-Conforming Product, using problem-solving techniques to resolve issues.
  8. Contribute to pre-production quality planning, including developing Quality Assembly documents, attending product and process reviews, and technical training of production personnel.
  9. Support Manufacturing Engineering in machine capability studies for new and existing machines.
  10. Support Gage Calibration System.
  11. Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required from an accredited educational institution.
  2. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  3. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates in the immediate geographical area (50-mile radius) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  2. Associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or other technical degree.
  3. ASQ Quality Technician Certification preferred.
  4. 3 to 5 years of work experience as a Quality Technician, preferably in the Power industry.
  5. Six Sigma and Lean certifications and/or experience.
  6. Statistical Process Control.
  7. Understanding of delta-wye 3 phases transformer and resistive load bank technology.
Skills:
  1. Individual may be required to sit, stand, and walk regularly.
  2. Individual must be able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout work shift.
  3. Individual may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, push, and/or pull.
